The Ombudsman for Justice (JO) directs harsh criticism at the Correctional Service and the detention center in Gothenburg, reports P4 Gothenburg. Inmates have been forced to urinate in sinks and trash cans.

– It is quite obvious that a person who needs to go to the toilet should be allowed to go to the toilet. Some cells do not have a toilet inside the cell, says JO Katarina Påhlsson to the radio.

– It is completely undignified.

Above all, it has been a problem at night when the staff has not had time to release needy prisoners.

JO also criticizes the detention center for having dirty rest areas with, among other things, racist graffiti.

– An element of a humane correctional system is to get out and breathe fresh air. You have the right to that. To then come out on a rest farm in this condition, then I understand that you refrain. Some were scared, says Påhlsson to P4.
