In the statement made by the Russian Ministry of Defense, it was stated that the prisoner exchange agreement was brokered by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and said, “As a result of the negotiation process on February 8, 2024, 100 Russian soldiers who were in captivity were brought back from the lands under the control of the Kiev regime. In return, 100 prisoners from the Ukrainian Armed Forces were handed over. The released military personnel will be transported to Moscow by military transport aircraft belonging to the Russian Aerospace Forces for treatment and rehabilitation in medical institutions affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defense. “The United Arab Emirates provided humanitarian mediation during the return of Russian military personnel from captivity,” it said.
