It was in March that the couple, a man and a woman, blocked the police when they tried to stop a driver of a passenger car. Among other things, the man drove a wheel loader in front of the police car when it came driving at a high speed, which led to the patrol being forced to wade into the ditch.
The chase ended with the driver of the car getting away. Police suspected the couple were blocking the road because the driver they were trying to stop was their son. However, the police have not been able to prove that it was the son who drove the car.
Prison sentence for the couple
Both have denied sabotage against blue light operations – but the Luleå District Court makes a different assessment.
The woman has been sentenced to two months in prison for sabotage against blue light operations. The man, on the other hand, receives a more severe sentence – namely imprisonment for two years for attempted aggravated violence against an official, gross negligence in traffic and aggravated sabotage against blue light operations.
“Obstructed law enforcement activities”
“The act, which resulted in the police car driving off the road and the pursuit of the BMW being interrupted, has, in the district court’s opinion, clearly seriously impeded law enforcement activities,” the court writes in the judgment.
The man must also pay damages to the police officers who were forced to drive into the ditch. They will receive SEK 15,000 each, the amount refers to compensation for infringement.
