A total of 57 prison guards and police officers who were taken hostage at several prisons in Ecuador have been released, the country’s prison authority Snai says.
The prison guards and police officers “were released and are now undergoing medical examinations to check their health conditions,” Snai said, adding that all appeared to be in good health.
How long they were held hostage and which prisons they were held in remains unclear.
