France 3 launched a new musical talent show called “Voix de Stars” in 2023. With Julia Vignali at the helm and a jury of experts, it is based on a competition of vocal lookalikes…
Voix de stars was scheduled from Friday, September 20 at 9:10 p.m. The France 3 channel wanted to offer its viewers a brand new singing competition hosted by the host Julia Vignali. While this is not the public service’s first attempt in this area, the program stands out this time with its original concept focused on vocal lookalikes.
The principle of Voix de stars is simple: the show brings together 12 anonymous and non-professional candidates, selected for their voices very close to those of stars well known to the general public. Rock, French variety, pop, rap… All styles are represented in the competition. Facing them, a jury of four experts from the artistic world has the difficult task of deciding between them.
Julia Vignali and 4 jurors
At the helm of Voix de Stars, we find Julia Vignali, an iconic presenter of the public service. After having learned the ropes on M6, she notably presented the morning show Les Maternelles on France 5 for 7 years. But it is especially on France 2 that she has established herself in recent years. First at the head of Télématin alongside Thomas Sotto, then in the daily Affaire conclue in the afternoon. Recently, she even won two event bonuses: Tout le monde joue avec la mémoire and Le Duel des brocantes.
The Voix de stars jury is composed of Quebec singer and impersonator Véronic DiCaire, who was already a judge on the X Factor show on M6 in 2011. She is accompanied by Michaël Gregorio, who also made his name on the sixth channel in Graines de stars before leading a brilliant career in impersonation. Singer Liane Foly, who hosted a show on the theme of vocal lookalikes in 2007, brings her musical expertise. Finally, comedian Jarry, who recently took charge of the game show Tout le monde veut prendre sa place on France 2, completes this eclectic cast.
The candidates of Voice of stars, vocal lookalikes, but not only
Physical resemblance is not taken into account in judging the candidates of Voix de stars, it is their incredible ability to reproduce a voice identical to that of famous singers that will make the difference. But the show relies on the reaction of viewers, amazed to discover that some candidates are also the spitting image of their idol. But among the 12 contenders for the title, the final winner is offered a check for 10,000 euros.
To reach the grand finale, the candidates of Voix de stars must pass two elimination stages. During the first round, they must perform only in front of the four judges who vote blindly, on a principle close to that of The Voice. They must obtain at least three “yes” to participate in the next round. The qualified are then invited in front of the jury, but also in front of the audience of the set for a 50/50 vote this time. The two best vocal lookalikes must finally compete for victory, at the end of the show.
