Why are Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill moving to Sweden?

The years in the United States have been important for the princess and her children, who spent most of their lives in Florida. Nevertheless, they want to move back to Sweden.

The reason for the move is the lack of socializing and family in the United States, according to Swedish Women’s Magazine.

“She is tired of sitting all day at home in her 80-million villa without much social interaction. All her closest friends live their lives at home in Stockholm – Madeleine has an entire Atlantic between her, her friends and the rest of the family,” writes Svensk Damtidning’s editor-in-chief Johan T Lindwall.

So how does Sweden’s princess actually fly? It is not impossible that many imagine a luxurious private jet that appears on demand, but that is not actually true.

Expressen can reveal that Princess Madeleine’s journey home to Sweden resembles ordinary Svensson families – at least to a certain extent.

The family flies in economy class, at the back of the plane. If they want something to eat in addition to the snacks offered by the airline, they have to pay for it themselves, as no food is included in the ticket price.

Princess Madeleine, the three children and their nanny will therefore fly with two stops. First they go domestically to Newark near New York, and then they go with SAS to Stockholm.

Princess Madeleine receives royal treatment at the airport

Despite the modest airfares, there is one part of the trip that can only be considered royalty.

Swedish embassy staff have applied for a fast track through the security check for the princess and her family. Such special treatment is the responsibility of the US Department of Foreign Affairs, and it is a service offered only to “important” persons at some US airports.

In order to be fast-tracked through the security check, embassies or UN representations require VIP treatment.
