The princess Birgittaone of the king’s older sisters, is dead, the court announces.

According to one press release from the Royal Palace, Birgitta died in Mallorca on Wednesday, December 4 at the age of 87.
– With great sadness today I received the news that my sister, Princess Birgitta, has passed away. My sister was a colorful and forthright person who will be deeply missed by me and my family. Together with my entire family, I send my condolences today to Princess Birgitta’s children and grandchildren, says the king Carl XVI Gustaf in a statement.

On Thursday, December 5, the flag will be at half-mast at Drottningholm Castle and Haga Castle.
“Princess Birgitta will rest at the Royal burial site in Hagaparken, according to the Princess’s wish,” writes the court.
Dates will be provided at a later date.
