After a long period of rumours, the court and the crown princess couple denied the information that they were planning to divorce in early 2022. A decision that Prince Daniel still thinks was absolutely right.
– I don’t think any sane person believes in that rumor anymore, he says in an exclusive interview with SVT’s Carina Bergfeldt ahead of his 50th birthday.
The court considered itself forced
In connection with the dementia a year and a half ago, the court’s information manager Margareta Thorgren stated in an interview with SVT Nyheter that they considered themselves forced, because the spread of rumors had been so extensive and long-lasting:
– This is really an exception to the rule. Despite previous denials to established media, the spread of rumors continues and it has reached such force and scope that the Crown Princess couple, in dialogue with the communications department, have chosen to make this statement, she said in February 2022.
She also said that the rumor had not appeared in “serious, established media” but that it was rather information in other channels, above all social media.
The prince does not read weekly papers
The prince and crown princess are on the cover of some weekly newspaper every week. How to deal with it?
– I don’t read that kind of newspaper. And should there be anything startling, I will hear it. And then we’ll see if you can swallow it, says Prince Daniel in the interview with Carina Bergfeldt.
