In its note, the Haitian government does not fail to emphasize that this hearing is proof that “ no one is above the law » in Haiti, not even the one who has led the country since the assassination of Jovenel Moïse.
Ariel Henry was heard for several hours as a witness. The interrogation took place, according to press reports, on the sly, in his residence. The investigating magistrate and his clerk came themselves.
What questions did they ask, what specifically did they seek to know? Nothing leaked. However, we know from investigation reports that justice is interested in the phone calls made several times on the night of the murder between Ariel Henry and one of the key suspects in this case. Joseph Felix Badiokey suspect, one of the alleged masterminds, was arrested in October 2023 in the suburbs of Port-au-Prince.
On Tuesday, the Minister of the Economy and the Secretary General of the Prime Minister’s Office were also heard. Other government officials will follow this week, proof that the investigation is progressing in Haiti, but no indictments yet to date. At the same time, in the United States, several convictions have already been handed down in this sprawling Moïse case.
