Ukrainian leader Zelensky made a statement about the Wagner leader Prigojin, who died in the plane crash yesterday. Regarding the crash of Prigozhin’s jet, Zelensky said, “We have absolutely nothing to do with this situation. Everyone understands who is involved in this.”
Zelenskiy held a press conference with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo De Sousa after their meeting in the capital, Kiev.
Answering a question about the death of Wagner’s founder Yevgeny Prigojin at the meeting, Zelenskiy used the following statements:
“When Ukraine applied to some countries for the supply of aircraft, we did not mean it. Actually, we meant something else and asked for support. Although, in a way, this will definitely help us in a way. (Prigojin’s death) We have absolutely nothing to do with this situation. Everyone knows who is involved in this. understands.”
WHAT HAPPENED
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia reported that 10 people died as a result of the crash of a private jet in the Tver region of the country yesterday.
Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) also announced that Wagner’s founder, Yevgeniy Prigojin, was among those killed in the crash.
In some Telegram channels known to be close to Wagner, it was claimed that the plane was shot down by the defense systems of the Russian army.
Prigojin, with his mercenary warriors, started an armed rebellion against the Russian government on 24 June. The uprising ended with the intervention of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. (AA)
