Prices continue to rise at Bouygues Telecom! The operator is launching a new round of price increases for its mobile and Internet subscriptions, with up to €4 more per month and per package. It’s starting to do a lot!

Contrary to what Bruno Le Maire constantly asserts, inflation is far from being defeated in telecoms! Subscribers are victims of successive increases in the prices of their subscriptions due to the increase in electricity prices and the war in Ukraine. Bouygues Telecom was the first to lead the way in January 2023, quickly followed by SFR and Orange. Only Free stood out by committing not to increase its prices until at least 2027. The fact remains that, taken together, all these increases end up weighing heavily on the wallet… But we are far from seeing the end of the tunnel! As noted 60 million consumersBouygues Telecom has decided, once again, to “reevaluate” some of its prices in order to “maintain this level of quality and (to) support the evolution of uses”. An increase which can go up to €4 per month!

Telecoms packages: successive increases since January 2023

From January 2023, consumers had the displeasure of experiencing an increase of €1 to €2 depending on the packages at Bouygues Telecom. For the B&You 40 GB package, the increase was €1, while the 80 GB packages increased by €2. For its part, the Bbox Fit subscription had suffered an increase of €2 per month. SFR had also increased its prices between €0.69 and €0.99 per month depending on the SFR and Red by SFR packages from February 2023. As for Orange, it had, in its immense kindness, increased its packages. that” from 1 to 3 € per month. But the operators were not going to stop there! Rebelote in April, where Orange had updated a good part of its mobile and Internet plans, including its low-cost Sosh offer, which had again increased by €1 to €3 per month (see our article).

But why stop there? Last September, Bouygues Telecom again increased the prices of its subscriptions, with up to €3 additional. Then, in October, Orange, SFR and Bouygues decided to discreetly increase the prices of their mobile and landline plans in a more sneaky way, by reducing the duration of the reductions on their promotional offers (see our article). A trick that can cost more than a hundred euros per year…

Bouygues packages: a surge in prices for the new year

But telecoms do not seem to have made any good resolutions in the year 2024. Bouygues Telecom has simply decided to increase the prices of its subscriptions from €1 to €4 per month, sometimes without anything being added to the offers. On the Bouygues Telecom forum, a subscriber says that the operator gave him “announced an increase of €4 in the price of [sa] box, i.e. 14.5% more, without any enrichment of the offer and without the possibility of refusing”. He is not the only one ! Another Internet user notes, regarding his mobile plan, that “in March 2023, I took €1 off my current 40 GB package which therefore went from €9.99 to €10.99. I have just received information that now I will take €2 more on the 1st January 2024”. In return, its data increases to 100 GB per month – but not everyone needs that much data…

On average, the increases in Bbox fiber or ADSL offers range from 1 to 4 € per month, while those of telephone plans are 1 or 2 €, with additional data or support for 5G – which, again , are not necessarily necessary and desired by subscribers. “Like many companies, we are experiencing the rise in our costs: logistics, transport, semiconductors, but also energy, the rise in prices of which has a direct impact on the operation of telecoms infrastructures, fixed in particular”the operator justifies himself in his emails, ensuring that “All [son] possible to contain these increases”. We can’t imagine if that wasn’t the case…

If all these increases are carried out within a legal framework and it is impossible to oppose them, remember that subscribers have the right to ask to change their offer – to take another less expensive one – or to cancel their subscription current without charge and without taking into account the commitment period, and this within four months following receipt of the email, in accordance with article L224-33 of the Consumer Code. In addition, all customers must be informed at least one month before the new prices are applied. Do not hesitate to consult our practical guide to avoid the increase in prices of different packages!
