Prices continue to increase among operators This time its Oranges

Prices continue to increase among operators! This time, it’s Orange’s turn to charge a few extra euros to subscribers of their old packages. Enough to arouse the dissatisfaction of the most loyal customers!

But it never ends! HAS Due to the increase in electricity prices and the war in Ukraine, subscribers are victims of successive increases in the prices of their mobile and Internet subscriptions, to the great detriment of their wallets. Bouygues Telecom was the first to lead the way in January 2023, quickly followed by SFR and Orange. Only Free stood out by committing not to increase its prices until at least 2027. The fact remains that, taken together, all these increases end up weighing heavily on our budget… But we are far from finished!

While Bouygues Telecom has just launched a new round of price increases for its mobile and Internet subscriptions, with up to €4 more per month and per package (see our article), several Orange subscribers have made it known on X (formerly Twitter) And on the operator’s support forum that they had received discreet e-mail notifications informing them of an increase in prices on their mobile and/or Internet subscriptions, following a “change” in offers. It would almost end up becoming redundant…

Increase in Orange packages: more data for everyone

Orange has become accustomed to price increases since the start of inflation. In February 2023, the historic operator increased its packages from €1 to €3 per month. Rebelote in April, where it updated a good part of its mobile and Internet plans, including its low-cost Sosh offer, which had again increased by €1 to €3 per month (see our article). Change of method in October when, alongside SFR and Bouygues, it decided to discreetly increase the prices of its mobile and landline plans in a more sneaky way, by reducing the duration of the reductions on their promotional offers (see our article). A trick that can cost more than a hundred euros per year…

This time, it seems that the increase concerns offers now absent from the catalog, such as Open packages – which offered a combination of mobile and fixed services –, with an increase of €2 per month in the weeks that follow. In return, subscribers see their number of data increase – but not everyone has the use of so much data, which is billed at a high price… Thus, an Internet user goes from 140 to 170 GB per month , while he has only consumed 5.2 in six months, while another sees his 2 GB offer transformed into 10 GB for an additional €2. Ditto for the Open 10 GB offer, which becomes the Open 40 GB offer. A waste… An advisor confirmed this on the forum: “I confirm to you that it is not possible to renounce the price increase by keeping your current offer because it is no longer offered in the catalog. In the event of refusal, this implies a change of offer and therefore pricing by switching to two distinct offers”.

If all these increases are carried out within a legal framework and it is impossible to oppose them, remember that subscribers have the right to ask to change their offer – to take another less expensive one – or to cancel their subscription current without charge and without taking into account the commitment period, and this within four months following receipt of the email, in accordance with article L224-33 of the Consumer Code. In addition, all customers must be informed at least one month before the new prices are applied. Do not hesitate to consult our practical guide to avoid the increase in prices of different packages!
