Prices continue to increase among operators! This time, it’s Bouygues Telecom’s turn to charge a few extra euros to certain subscribers. Enough to encourage its most loyal customers to go to the competition!

It never ends! Since January 2023, subscribers are victims of successive increases in the prices of their mobile and Internet subscriptions, to the great detriment of their wallets. Bouygues Telecom was the first to lead the way, quickly followed by SFR and Orange. Only Free stood out by committing not to increase its prices until at least 2027. The fact remains that, taken together, all these increases end up weighing heavily on our budget… But we are far from finished!

Last January, Bouygues Telecom launched a new round of increases in the prices of its mobile and Internet subscriptions, with up to €4 more per month and per package (see our article), very quickly followed by Orange, which had decided to charge a few extra euros to subscribers of their old packages. For its part, SFR has smoothed the price of its Internet offers by now offering a single price, without a promotional period. And if the subscription costs more the first year, this strategy proves advantageous for customers in the long term (see our article). But, really, it’s starting to show a lot of increases overall over the past two years. And Bouygues Telecom is doing it again! Some subscribers had the displeasure of receiving an email announcing an increase in the price of their Bbox, Fiber or ADSL subscription by 2 euros per month. A decision taken for “maintain this level of quality and support the evolution of uses”.

Bouygues Telecom increases: a new increase of 2 euros

To justify this increase, the operator highlights its performances, citing its place “number one operator for home Internet connection. And for the fifth time in a row, we have been named number one operator in Wi-Fi”. The customers concerned are wondering about the recurrence of these increases, without noting any significant improvement in services. The repetition of these increases creates a growing feeling of frustration. Some have also indicated on X that they were going to leave the operator to join the competition.

If all these increases are carried out within a legal framework and it is impossible to oppose them, remember that subscribers have the right to ask to change their offer – to take another less expensive one – or to cancel their subscription current without charge and without taking into account the commitment period, and this within four months following receipt of the email, in accordance with article L224-33 of the Consumer Code. In addition, all customers must be informed at least one month before the new prices are applied. Do not hesitate to consult our practical guide to avoid the increase in prices of different packages! And, as a last resort, it is always possible to contact the operator’s assistance and threaten to go to the competition – it is better to plan some comparisons of packages to have weighty arguments -, which can lead to the obtaining a “magic reduction”. Nothing ventured, nothing gained !
