A chair attack left its mark on the São Paulo mayoral debate. Instagram influencer and mayoral candidate Pablo Marçal suffered a broken rib and a dislocated finger.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT CASE CREATES TENSION
The race to govern the city of 12 million people heated up in a debate on Sunday evening as elections are expected to be held in early October. Marçal brought up a sexual harassment case against news anchor Datena, who said Marçal had turned the debate into a sort of Internet show. Datena demanded her opponent retract her comments and said the sexual harassment allegations had caused serious emotional strain on her family.

In response, Marçal said of Datena that “she barks but she doesn’t bite” and added, “You once came to me during an argument to slap me, but you’re not even man enough to do that”, which made Datena furious.

Marçal was taken to hospital with complaints of difficulty breathing. His aides told Brazilian media that he had a fractured rib, while emergency services officials reported that he had dislocated a finger.
