President Pezeshkian has made it clear that he intends to ease the pressure on women or young people. Responding to a journalist who said she had to take small alleys to escape the morality police, Massoud Pezeshkiansaid he had asked the police to stop targeting women who wear the wrong veil: ” The morality police should no longer intervene against women who wear veils improperly. I will tell them again. Even the country’s attorney general has stated that the police have no right to intervene against women who wear veils improperly. “.

The statement came as videos have emerged in recent weeks showing police officers violently arresting poorly veiled young women.

In another sign of openness, he said that a commission had been set up to review the ban on social networks such as Instagram, Twitter and Telegram, as he had promised during the election campaign.
