The NATO Summit will be held on 11-12 July in Vilnius, about 300 kilometers from the Russian border. The summit will be attended by the heads of state and government of the member states, whose number has increased to 31 with the participation of Finland in April, as well as the leaders of Sweden and Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, whose membership has been invited but not yet approved.
THE PATRIOTS ARE PLACED
As part of the summit, high-level security measures were taken in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Within the scope of these security measures, Germany’s Patriot long-range air defense system batteries were deployed to Vilnius Airport.
More than 3 thousand soldiers will serve
Within the framework of the security measures of the NATO Summit, which will last for two days, more than 3,000 Lithuanian soldiers will be on duty.
SWEDEN STATEMENT FROM ERDOĞAN
To attend the NATO Summit, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan departed from Istanbul to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, where the summit will take place. Answering questions at Atatürk Airport, President Erdoğan stipulated ‘opening the EU door to Turkey’ for Sweden’s inclusion in NATO.
