The motorcade carrying the president’s casket will travel through Carter’s hometown on Saturday before heading to Atlanta.

The car carrying Carter’s casket and the following motorcade started their journey on Saturday morning towards the Carter Presidential Center in Atlanta, where people can visit until Tuesday to bid farewell to the president.
After this, the ex-president continues his journey towards Washington and the US Capitol, where a memorial ceremony will be held for him on the same day.
For two days, people can visit the President’s Capitol to say goodbye before he begins his journey to his homestead in the Plains. There he will be laid to rest next to his childhood home on Thursday.
Carter, who served as US president from 1977 to 1981 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, died at his home in Plains on December 29 last year. Carter was 100 years old when he died.
