Last Saturday, American journalist Julie Chin began to lose her words in the middle of the television news. According to the doctors, she would have suffered a “beginning of attack” live.

    A beginning of attack

The scene is impressive. While hosting the newspaper on NBC affiliate KJRH, journalist Julie Chin suddenly loses her words. Struggling to finish her sentences, but aware that these disorders are quite unusual, the presenter reacted live:

Sorry. Something happened to me this morning and I apologize »

Julie Chin is quickly taken care of by the emergency services – thanks to her colleagues – then is hospitalized.

Two days after this incident, on her Facebook profile, the American journalist declares having suffered “from the beginning of a stroke” live on television – fortunately without consequences.

The last few days are still a bit of a mystery, but my doctors think I had an early stroke live on air Saturday morning “, she says.

She nevertheless specifies that she did not feel any particular symptoms before the start of the program.

I felt good before the show. However, for several minutes during our newscast, things started to happen. First, I lost partial sight in one eye. A little later my hand and arm went numb,” she said. “Then I knew I was in big trouble when my mouth wouldn’t speak the words that were right in front of me on the teleprompter.. »

The presenter is now doing prevention

In her misfortune, the presenter was very lucky: she should indeed come out unscathed. This does not prevent him, since the incident, from doing prevention.

It recalls in particular the nature of the symptoms of a cerebrovascular accident (a deformation of the mouth, a sudden loss of balance, a sudden partial vision, a weakness on one side of the body, a paralysis of the face, disorders of the speak…) which it is essential to recognize in order to call for help in time (15).

While waiting for their intervention, the victim must be lying on the ground with a pillow under his head.
