Prescriptions, vaccination record, test results… Since February 3, 2022, the new public service My health space has made it possible to group together a great deal of medical information accessible to patients and healthcare professionals alike.

So far, the various attempts by the State to develop an online space intended for patients covered by National Health Insurance and for healthcare professionals have not been crowned with success. We remember in particular the personal medical file (DMP) created 18 years ago, and replaced in 2018 by the shared medical file with rather vague contours and usefulness which only managed to attract 10 million policyholders. In 2022, the Government is doing a new test with the site My health space. Unveiled on February 3, this free online service covers the basics of DMP with a clearer and more attractive interface. It will be officially open in March, but it is already possible to access it in order to activate it or, on the contrary, to refuse its activation. It will indeed be opened automatically for all policyholders in March, without becoming compulsory, because anyone can refuse to open it. Note that the My health space site will be available in the spring of 2022 in a mobile version with an eponymous application for Android and iOS.

What does My Health Space contain?

If you already have a DMP, almost nothing changes. You will find the same information there, but a little better organized. There are listed the history of health acts (visits to the general practitioner, hospitalizations, vaccination course, etc.). It will then accommodate documents such as prescriptions and the results of medical examinations (blood tests, scanners, X-rays, ultrasounds, etc.). The patient can himself add documents on past examinations, for example. He can complete his file by indicating any allergies, past or current drug treatments, medical history, etc. The service also offers instant messaging to chat with your doctor. However, only the healthcare professional is authorized to initiate a conversation. One way to prevent doctors from being overwhelmed by the solicitations of hypochondriacs…

What is the data security on My health space?

As you can imagine, data concerning health is extremely sensitive. Eminently personal, they must never fall into the wrong hands. And Health Insurance promises maximum security to guarantee their confidentiality. All the information recorded in My health space is thus hosted on secure servers located in France. Ditto for messaging: no question of using services like Gmail, Outlook and other WhatsApp to exchange medical information. Health Insurance also specifies that no one other than health professionals and the patient has access to the data stored on My Health Space: neither insurers, nor employers, nor banks.

Of course, all the measures taken will not prevent the phishing attempts which Ameli account holders are regularly subjected to, and against which the Health Insurance is constantly fighting. by dint of advice and warnings. We just have to hope that users who are not used to digital technology do not fall into the traps and misleading – sometimes sophisticated – messages intended to hack into their account to steal their personal data. For the rest, it seems that the Health Insurance has put in place all the necessary protections to guarantee this essential security, Ameli having to date never been the subject of a massive hack.

You do not have to wait for Health Insurance to notify you that your health space is ready to go there. You can already access it to activate it or, on the contrary, refuse to open it.
