According to information given to the police, the bear should have been seen during Wednesday morning and at a distance of about 10 meters. The assessment is that it may be a young bear.
– Bears can absolutely be awake now, says Lars Rehnfeldt, nature watcher at the County Administrative Board in Jämtland to SVT Nyheter Jämtland.
– There is no snow, and the weather has been mild, so bears can wake up, he says.
The police will now search for traces and see if they can both confirm that it is a bear but also find out if it is still in the area.
