The Court of Appeal upholds the district court’s verdict for two of three men who were involved in the preparation of drug smuggling in the port of Helsingborg. For the third man, the punishment is increased.

The district court sentenced a man who had been employed in the port of Helsingborg for nearly 30 years, together with a 49-year-old man, to two years in prison each for, among other things, preparation for extremely serious drug smuggling. Now the Court of Appeal determines their sentence.

The crimes – far-fetched plans to smuggle cocaine from Ecuador to the port of Helsingborg – were committed in 2020. It was in September 2022 that the Customs found approximately 93 kilos of cocaine in a container in Helsingborg.

A third man is sentenced to nine years in prison in the Court of Appeal for, among other things, attempting and being labeled a particularly serious drug crime. In the district court, he was sentenced to eight years in prison.

He is also convicted of serious weapons offenses and serious drug offenses on other occasions.

The investigation has primarily consisted of content in encrypted telephones.
