Prime Minister Boris Johnson went out earlier and declared that we will have to steel ourselves for a long war in Ukraine.
A letter from the army chief to the defense
In a letter sent to all military officials in Britain on Saturday, the new army chief writes Patrick Sanders that “the British army must prepare for having to fight in Europe”, reports the BBC.
In the letter, he notes that this is the first time since 1941 that an army chief has been forced to take such command over the army.
“The world has changed since February 24 and there is now a demand to create an army that can fight with our allies and defeat Russia in battle,” Sanders wrote, adding that Britain must be prepared to face the Russian threat:
“We are the generation that must prepare the army to fight in Europe again,” he wrote in the letter BBC taken part of.
