Over 1,500 people applied, 60 went on to the final audition and 25 young talents between the ages of 13 and 15 were finally chosen. The new music competition Hello Mello consists of five sub-competitions and a final, and the winner will, in addition to the victory, get to perform in Melodifestivalen 2025. The genre preparation for the evening’s first sub-competition is in full swing when SVT meets some of the artists.
New scene and new moments
Sora Elding from Stockholm competes with the entry “Stanna timen”. Although she has previous experience of being on stage as an actor and musician – this is something completely new.
– It feels edgy. There’s a lot that I don’t really know, how to move your hands and wear a conch in your ear. But it will probably go well, says Sora Elding.
The song “Stanna timed” is about what it’s like to be a teenager and the feeling of being lost.
– You can’t really decide who you want to be and then you almost stop caring a little, says Sora Elding.
Sight already set on the Globe
From a quieter ballad in Swedish, the starting field also offers rockier songs. The group Black Roses, whose name is inspired by the rock band Guns N’ Roses, competes with the song “Only Strangers”.
– The song has a pop text but rock instruments, says Addapinya Kongyim who sings in the group.
The Black Roses have been playing together for three years, and in addition to getting to perform on the Hello Mello stage, they’ve already set their sights on bigger stages.
– The Globe, hopefully next year, says Albin Landersjö in Black Roses.
Hello Mello premieres tonight at 20.00 in SVT1 and on SVT Play.
