But who is really the best of Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland?
The former Manchester United player knows where he stands.
Alexander Isak, 24, left AIK for Dortmund in 2017. The then 17-year-old Isak then broke the Allsvenskan transfer record when his transfer fee amounted to SEK 90 million. After two and a half years at the German club, half a season of which was spent on loan to Willem II in the Netherlands, the transfer load moved on to Real Sociedad.
Isak vs Haaland
In the Basque club it was a success, and last summer Isak was recruited by Newcastle. In the 2022/2023 season, there were ten goals in 22 matches in the Premier League. This season hasn’t been so playful either. The striker has scored six goals in seven games, and four of those goals came in the last three games before the international break.

Isak’s six goals put him second in the scoring league. In front of him lies Erling Haaland with eight goals in eight games. The Norwegian came just like Isak to the Premier League last summer. Last season, Haaland scored an insane 36 goals in 35 games.
Ferdinand’s Tribute
When the Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand is asked if Isak is the best number nine striker in the Premier League in addition to Haaland, the Englishman is positive.
– He (Isaak) is doing well. Yes, he can be, says Ferdinand in the Vibe with Five podcast, adding great praise:
– Isak is a more complete player than Haaland.

But Isak is not yet quite at the City player’s level, says Ferdinand.
– I’m not saying he’s as good as Haaland, he’s a different player. Haaland is a finisher, the best finisher, he says.
