Pregnant woman dismissed – gets compensation

The restaurant hired the woman last August, shortly before she found out she was pregnant.

At the end of September, the company ended the woman’s trial employment. The pregnancy prevented her from performing certain tasks and led to her being sick on a couple of occasions.

– We believe that it must have been clear to the employer that the absence and the problems the woman had were due to the pregnancy, and therefore it is DO’s opinion that the action was a matter of discrimination related to gender, says Sofie Haggård Larsson, lawyer at DO :’s process unit, to Dagens Juridik.
