The first film adaptation of Pierre Boulle’s novel of the same name was Planet of the Apes in 1968. After five more films, however, it was only the reboot trilogy Planet of the Apes: Prevolution, Revolution and Survival that made it to the To convince critics again (via Rotten Tomatoes ). Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom takes place 300 years in the future

In the first three parts we followed the life of the former laboratory monkey Ceasar and the epic battle of animals against humans. Some 300 years later, Ceasar’s legacy lives on in a world where the People only have a shadowy existence lead.

Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom impresses with visual power like Avatar

Saturated colorsdynamic movements, fine textures – we know all of this from James Cameron’s Avatar films. Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom is not quite on the same level, but it comes close and convinces not only with its digital imagery but also with Action and emotionsas our editor Matthias Hopf writes in his film review.

The boundaries between the real and computer-generated recordings blur and leave the audience in awe. It goes through the green jungle, into a gloomy ship ruin and in the epic finale we get the full power of water to see.

If it had been up to director Wes Ball, he would have also liked to have shot “the best horse chase ever seen in cinema,” as he in an interview with us Unfortunately, the budget was not sufficient for this, but that is not necessary, because as in the first three parts, New Kingdom also convinces with strong characterswhich are just as thrilling as the action.

As with Avatar and the previous ape films, the moment turns out to be the strongest in which the Emotions tangible despite and thanks to (!) countless effects and a brief hesitation makes Noa doubt whether he can really trust the stranger Mae.
