Ronnie Hellström was an incredible soccer goalkeeper.
It had been a long time since he was an active player.
But this powerful tribute film to Ronnie makes us remember his greatness.
Folke Ronnie Wallentin Hellström is one of Sweden’s greatest ever footballers. He was a fantastic goalkeeper and was world famous for his rugged reflex saves.
Hellström’s successes
In 2011, Ronnie Hellström was elected to Swedish football’s Hall of Fame. With every right, as he is one of Sweden’s absolute biggest legends in football. The goalkeeper began his career with Malmö FF, but when the family moved to Stockholm, 13-year-old Ronnie chose to play for Hammarby. There he would become one of the 08 club’s biggest icons.

He would become just as great in Germany when the professional move went to Kaiserslautern in 1974, and there he performed great deeds for the next ten years. As a sign of his greatness, 35,000 spectators came to pay tribute to their goalkeeping hero alone at the farewell match in Kaiserslautern in 1984.
Nice tribute film
In the national team jersey, he made his debut as a 19-year-old and became a dominant player between the posts when Sweden challenged the world elite during the 1970s. Hellström was one of the key players during the WC 1970, WC 1974 and WC 1978 and was thus awarded the Golden Ball in both 1971 and 1978.
