But now a completely different Swede is being celebrated for his efforts in the NHL.
By being selected as one of the 100 best players ever.
When it comes to successful Swedes in the NHL, the fantastic super trio is usually mentioned Peter Forsberg, Mats Sundin and Nicklas Lidström as the most successful. But now a completely different blue-yellow player is being brought to the limelight.
Paying tribute to the Swede
An independent committee has voted for the 100 best players in the history of the NHL team Boston Bruins. Under the collective name “The Historic 100”, all players have been presented on the club’s official X-channel and there we actually find a Swede.

Among all the players we find legendary names such as Zdeno Chara, Phil Esposito, Bobby Orr, Tim Thomas, Joe Thornton, Patrice Bergeron and also active players who Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Milan Lucic. Among all the big names we then find Per-Johan Axelsson who has been named one of the Bruins’ 100 Greatest Players Ever.

Pebben’s career
“Pebben” spent eleven seasons in Boston and delivered 287 points in 797 games in the NHL. He developed into one of the league’s best defensive forwards during his time in North America and was highly regarded by fans.

Now he also gets his big recognition in the NHL after his career. Axelsson is also a club icon in Frölunda with a SM gold and 348 matches and has an Olympic gold with Three Crowns on his merit list.
