Over 1.5 million people were without electricity in the Odessa region after Saturday’s Russian drone attack in southern Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in his evening speech.
Russia used a total of 15 Iranian suicide drones in the attack and 10 of them were shot down, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. The drones had been programmed to strike civilian infrastructure in Kherson, Mykolajiv and Odessa.
The fact that Russia is once again using Iranian drones in its attacks may indicate that Russia has recently received new supplies, or is expecting new supplies from Iran, writes the American think tank ISW in its latest report.
Iran is likely to increase its support for Russia’s military in the coming months, the British Ministry of Defense warns in a intelligence report on Saturday.
Russia is seeking to acquire more weapons, including hundreds of ballistic missiles. In return, Moscow may offer Iran military and technical support, according to the Defense Department.
