A few weeks ago, Marcus Ericsson was in the overall lead in the fight for the Indycar championship. Before the last race of the season, at the Laguna Seca track in Monterey, California, the Swede was in fourth place in the summary. However, with very little chance of winning the entire championship.
Before the final, and decisive, journey, Australian Will Power led the overall, 20 points ahead of American Josef Newgaarden and New Zealander Scott Dixon. Four Ericsson was 39 points behind Power.
The Swede finished in eighth place in the sub-competition – which meant sixth place overall. Spaniard Álex Palou won the race, ahead of Newgaarden and Power.
Will Power is thus champion in Indycar for the second time in his career. Palou won the championship last year.

Eriksson won one race during the Indycar season. However, he finished in the top 5 five times and the top 10 in eleven of the 17 races.
The race’s second Swede, Felix Rosenqvist, finished fourth. Rosenqvist finished eighth in the summary.
