A recent outbreak just across the provincial border in Lunteren resulted in a transport ban for animals, eggs, poultry manure and litter in part of the province of Utrecht. Leusden, Woudenberg, Amerongen, Veenendaal and Renswoude, among others, fall wholly or partly in the so-called 10 kilometer zone. There are a total of 199 poultry farms in this zone.
