Posters mocking Moomin and Pippi Longstocking appeared on the streets of Moscow – this is a Russian propaganda campaign against Finland and Sweden

Russia interprets history with a free hand even Astrid

The campaign is a continuation of the posters seen in May, where Swedish children’s author Astrid Lindgren was allegedly a Nazi.

Propaganda posters criticizing the NATO membership of Finland and Sweden have appeared on the streets of the Russian capital, Moscow.

In the posters, the figure of Uncle Sam, symbolizing the United States, is holding two puppets – Moominpapa and Pippi Longstocking.

Above the picture is a text in Russian that says “don’t be a doll in strange hands”.

Below the picture, the Finnish writer who created the Moomins is quoted Tove Jansson.

A quote from the book The Invisible Child and other stories all ends freely translated into Finnish as follows.

– Everything just becomes cheap fun on top of a pile of garbage, arguments and shouting, which is what my whole life has been.

The quotes refer to the Russian propaganda claim that Finland and Sweden would become US puppets as NATO members.

The Russian organization Our Victory, which was also behind the May poster campaign, is responsible for the posters.
