The message comes after a controversy about posting pictures of minors and pointing out those who suspects for throwing stones at trains.
It was after major problems with stone throwing against trains at Låsta station that security manager Patrik Jarenius tired. According to the municipality, the damage has cost the municipality and the transport company Transdev over SEK 1 million.
Prompted followers to share posts
In mid -January, he posted several pictures of underage youth who stood at the station and threw objects at trains and buses.
In the post, he urged his 1,600 followers to share the post to find out who the young people were.
When Strängnäs Municipality was noticed on the post, Jarenius was contacted and was asked to delete the post. The municipality believed that it violated the municipality’s policy to share pictures of minors and point out them as suspected criminals.
Security testing
The municipality now announces that Patrik Jarenius will quit immediately after an agreement with the employer.
– We make an overall assessment and the starting point is a security test that we carry out continuously. And we believe that he is unable to do it, says Lars Ekström, municipal director.
He was criticized for posting pictures of stone -throwing young people at Låvesta station. How much does it have to do with this decision?
– That’s part of the decision. It is incredibly important that we can prosecute and stop the stone throwing at Legesta station, but it needs to be done properly as well. It requires the police to do their job. But it is an overall assessment where this is part of it.
What is it beyond the event that plays into that decision?
– Out of respect for Patrik and privacy reasons, I will not go into any details.
The municipality states that it is working on recruiting a new security manager.
SVT has sought security manager Patrick Jarenius, who is currently declining to comment.
