PEACE AGREEMENT IN FORCE
The Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty was signed in Washington, USA, on March 26, 1979, following the decisions taken at the Camp David Convention. The most important articles of the agreement include “ending the state of war between the parties, normalizing relations, Israel’s withdrawal of its troops from the Sinai Peninsula and demilitarization of the region.”
STATEMENT OF ISRAEL’S GROUND OPERATION
In his statement on February 4, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signaled that they would launch a land attack on the city of Rafah, which is located on the Egyptian border and where hundreds of thousands of people fleeing Israeli attacks took shelter.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, in his statement during his visit to Israeli troops in the Khan Younis region of the Gaza Strip on February 1, said that they would move their land attacks to the city of Rafah.
