“Portraits of France – Another History of France”, an exhibition at the Musée de l’Homme in Paris

An exhibition to be seen at the Musée de l'Homme until January 17, 2022.

One thing is clear. Personalities from immigration and overseas territories are under-represented in the public sphere. The day after Joséphine Baker’s entry into the Pantheon, the Musée de l’homme takes up this subject with the exhibition Portraits of France. The exceptional life paths of 29 women and 29 men are highlighted. Unknown, famous or forgotten, they were decisive actors in the history of France. Among the 318 names proposed, 58 figures were retained.
