Portal Go and Portal TV: zoom on these new entries that want to make your life easier

Meta expands its Facebook range and makes it more accessible

Meta is thinking big with Facebook Portal. Between 2020 and 2021, the digital giant launched new products including those that interest us today: Portal Go and Portal TV. Meta is thus extending its Facebook range and making it more accessible to simplify your daily life … and videoconferencing.

Launched in 2018, the range Facebook Portal has continued to expand with new devices such as Portal + or Portal Mini. As a reminder, Facebook Portal devices are equipped with a screen and aim to offer the best video call experience through the duo Messenger and WhatsApp. All the products in the range have their specificities but it is the two latest arrivals that we are going to focus on today.

Portal TV, video on the big screen

Portal TV is the promise of an accessible Smart TV that facilitates your videoconferences while giving you access to all the content you need in a few clicks. Like the rest of the Facebook Portal products, it doubles as a hub home automation and therefore allows you to take care of your connected home. Box or screen point here: Portal TV is presented as a webcam coming to attach to the television. If he obviously does not have a touch screen, Portal TV relies on Alexa, L’voice assistant from Amazon and a small remote control to navigate the interface.

If you are worried about sacrificing the streaming by opting for Portal TV rather than an Android box or an Apple TV, fear not. Netflix, Prime Video, France.tv, Spotify or Deezer are available and work as well as on other platforms. For the videoconference, Portal TV’s camera will give you a comfortable calling experience from your sofa on Messenger and WhatsApp.

Portal Go, take your conversations around the house

Released in October 2021, Portal Go is Meta’s latest connected object. This new iteration takes everything that made Facebook Portal so successful, but makes some subtle changes. Broadly speaking, we find theDNA of the Facebook Portal range: a simple interface, access to Messenger and WhatsApp, and automatic camera zoom. Meta has brought a new dimension to it, namely portability. There is therefore a battery and a handle to take it anywhere in the house. By getting rid of the power cable, swapped for a charging station, Portal Go gains mobility to offer a nomadic communication experience that has nothing to envy to tablets classic, especially since a handle guarantees that Portal Go does not slip out of your hands when moving from one room to another.

Portal Go has a triangular shape that allows it to remain stable on all surfaces including the softer ones like a sofa or your knees. Its 10-inch screen accommodates an interface in roof tiles which greatly facilitates its use. In addition to video calls, you can enjoy content from Meta or listen to music and podcasts on Spotify. It is also in this interface that you can control the connected objects of the house. If your hands are taken by your children or the dishes, know that Portal Go is equipped with the Amazon voice assistant Alexa who can answer all your requests.
