Brandon James Moore, 40, is facing at least five charges in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 6 near Port Dover on Sept. 14.

Three motorcyclesa pickup truck and an SUV were involved in the collision, which took the life of Tiffany Barrer, a 31-year-old Sudbury woman, who was a passenger on one of the motorcycles.

Barrer’s partner, Eric Rainville, was also seriously injured and another motorcyclist suffered minor injuries.

But police alleviate that after the collision, Moore stabbed a bystander with a knife, sending the man to hospital with serious injuries.

Norfolk OPP originally said three publication bans on the case prohibited releasing any information that could identify the complainants, witnesses and accused but court records showed only two typical bans were in place.

In court Friday, one of those bans was lifted by assistant Crown attorney Ian Maedel, who asked a Justice of the Peace to rescind a ban that had been placed that would cover the identity of Barrer.

After court, Maedel said he didn’t believe a third publication ban had ever been placed.

Moore, who was to appear in Simcoe court virtually on Friday afternoon, refused to come to the video room.

Moore faces charges of attempted, dangerous driving, dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and possession of a murder weapon.

Norfolk OPP continues to ask for witnesses or those who might have dash-cam footage from traveling along Highway 6 at the time of the collision to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.

Meanwhile, Barrer’s sister, Meaghan Landry, has started a GoFundMe campaign to help support Rainville, who remains in hospital, Barrer’s children and the costs of returning Barrer’s body to Sudbury for a funeral.

More than $21,000 has been raised of a $25,000 goal, according to the Sudbury Star.

Family described Barrer as a devoted mother and avid lover of the outdoors.

“The world will be at a loss without her in it,” says her obituary.

Barrer’s life will be celebrated on Sept. 27 at a service in Coniston.
