Porn addiction in focus at theme week on mental illness in Örnsköldsvik

For some, pornography is an exciting world to explore in secret. For others, pornography serves as a refuge when they are experiencing painful or difficult periods in their lives. This was something the writer Ulrica Stigberg talked about in her lecture during Psyche Week in Örnsköldsvik.

– Our children encounter a world online that I myself did not when I was 11 or 12 years old, she says.

In her lecture, Ulrica Stigberg also talked about the fact that many young people today come across pornography for the first time at school, already at the age of nine, either from classmates or via the school’s computers.

Many young guys watch porn

According to Ulrica Stigberg, a survey showed that 26.1 percent of 18-year-old boys consume porn every day, while the corresponding figure for girls is just over one percent.
