Police said Wednesday they were contacted shortly after noon on Monday after the resident received an alert from her front-porch camera, which allowed her to provide a description of a suspect to investigating officers.

Police located a man matching the description in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex. The officers arrested the man and allegedly found the two packages in his backpack during a search.

The man was reportedly found in possession of a number of stolen items, including a license plate stolen in 2020, as well as checks belonging to a number of different people.

Stratford police charged the man with theft with a value less than $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, failure to comply with undertaking, and breach of probation. He was later released from custody on and undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Stratford court on Feb. 28.
