Almost 54,000 plug-in hybrids in Sweden

In total, over 640,000 cars are covered by the recall globally.

In Sweden alone, roughly 53,700 cars are covered, according to information from Kia to Vi Bilägare.

May start to burn

The fault concerns a circuit board for a hydraulic clutch actuator.

It has been found that water can leak into the circuit board, which can lead to a short circuit.

A short circuit can in turn lead to a fire starting in the engine compartment.

The cars affected by the recall are plug-in hybrids of the Kia Ceed and Xceed models built between 2019 and 2023, as well as the Kia Niro built between 2015 and 2023.

The recall means that the cars are taken to the workshop for a check of the so-called HCA unit, which is replaced if necessary.

During the workshop visit, a fuse of higher capacity is also installed.
