Therefore, prices have skyrocketed

There are several factors that influence the price increase. Among other things, the general price increase after the covid-19 pandemic. A contributing factor to the rampant candy prices is the price increase of cocoa that started already last fall.

But the price increase has come with a delay.

– This is because the candy manufacturers buy their raw materials on forward contracts and often have long negotiation cycles with retailers. In this way, a lag occurs before increased raw material prices reach the consumer level, says Ulf MazurCEO at Matpriskollen, to Private business.

He believes that the price of candy will continue to rise even at Christmas.
