Due to cracks discovered in the concrete structure, the bridge, which leads to the ferry to Nieuwegein, was closed to all traffic on August 23. The municipality of Vijfheerenlanden then had an inspection carried out, in which the original constructor of the bridge was also involved. That investigation showed that the bridge is safe for all traffic, except for freight traffic.
