Ponsiluoma shot away – Bø won again

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It didn’t take long before the cluster burst. Two kilometers in, Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Bø and Martin Ponsiluoma pulled away from the other competitors. The duo came to the shooting range alone – and each missed their shot and went on a penalty round.

Ponsiluoma, who took WC silver at the distance in Oberhof in February, continued to struggle and in the second shooting there were two more misses. Thus, a podium place was gone. But out on the track, the 27-year-old was fast, which allowed him to secure sixth place in the final race of the season. Jesper Nelin finished in 15th place.

– That’s a shame. He should have shot better, there was no reason to miss two shots, says Sweden’s shooting coach Jean-Marc Chabloz in SVT about Ponsiluoma’s effort.

In the Norwegian Holmenkollen, it was double Norwegian on the podium. Johannes Thingnes Bø was the winner. Sunday’s win was his 19th this season. Swiss Niklas Hartweg finished second, 26 seconds behind and third place went to Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen, 35 seconds behind Bø.
