Spring is pollen season. And according to the latest bulletin from the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), almost all of France is affected by the appearance of these natural elements. Only part of the northeast quarter of the country is relatively spared, to the chagrin of people with allergies.
After a few weeks of presence attenuated by the rains, the pollens are now very present, over all or almost all of France.
Rain showers that relieve allergies
Spring is accompanied by the arrival of large quantities of pollen in the air. The rain of the last few days has also had a double effect on these pollens: the “numerous showers at the beginning of May“allowed the “growth and development” of grasses, but also allowed them to be flattened on the ground, which helped allergy sufferers deal with their symptoms.
But beware, “the return of higher temperatures and sunny weather will promote the emission and dispersal of high concentrations of grass pollen in the air” warns the news bulletin.
Grass pollens are gaining momentum and will affect all departments of France this week with a high level risk of allergy.
Only rare stormy showers can bring temporary respite to allergy sufferers

Lots of grasses
Grasses are precisely one of the species that is gaining “from the south to the north of the country” estimates the RNSA. “Their pollen will affect all departments of France this week with a high level risk of allergy“.
On the contrary, those most sensitive to oak, plantain, sorrel and nettle pollens will have a low risk of allergy, because their pollens are of a “low to locally medium level” say the experts.
If you are allergic, remember these few simple rules to limit the impact of pollen on your body.
- Remember to rinse your hair in the evening, before going to bed, to avoid breathing it in during the night;
- Ventilate your home regularly, preferably before sunrise and after sunset;
- Avoid drying your laundry outside;
- By car, it is also recommended to drive with the windows closed.
