Pollen allergy: Dinan hospital strikes back

Pollen allergy Dinan hospital strikes back

Hosted by the Dinan hospital centre, the Capt’air Bretagne association has developed a mobile application that informs allergic patients in real time about the presence of pollen in the air.

Created more than 20 years ago, the association Capt’air Brittany mission is to collect and analyze data on thepollen activity in Brittany to inform the general public of the presence of these allergens. Hosted by the hospital center of Dinan, in the Côtes-d’Armor, it has created a smartphone application that informs patients in real time about their allergic risk.

Birch pollen season has started

To identify the evolution of pollen in the air, 5 sensors have been posted in Brest, Saint-Brieuc, Pontivy, Rennes and Dinan. When the allergic person logs in to their application, a geolocation system sends them the pollen bulletin from the nearest sensor. The data is also communicated to the National Aerobiological Monitoring Network, which publishes on its website a vigilance card pollen.

The RNSA has just launched its first birch pollen alert of the season. Since last week,“their concentration is slowly but surely increasing in the northern two-thirds of France” announces the Network.

And further south…

Around the Mediterranean, two pollens currently stand out:

  • Cypress pollen, whose concentrations are falling sharply but which remain numerous enough to cause a very high risk of allergy.
  • The plane tree pollen which, like every year, arrived suddenly with a short but very significant peak.
