The entire gallery of artist Tom van Campenhout from Leerdam is full of paintings of pollard willows. “I think pollard willows are one of the most beautiful trees. It is a very unique tree. Here in the area you see tufts of beautiful pollard willows. Those really old pollard willows, you can let your imagination run wild, especially with those beautiful structures in them and that very coarse bun at the top. Not one is the same. I think that is perhaps the most beautiful thing about it.”
