The new food prices also seem to affect which goods thieves focus on. The police have recently seen that large amounts of coffee have been stolen from grocery stores. “Often it is the whole flake that has been stolen,” they write.
At the same time, the price of raw coffee is the highest in 50 years and is expected to rise even more in the spring. In the past year alone, the price of coffee in Swedish grocery stores has increased by 17 percent, according to TT.
The police are urging shop owners to always report theft as these are important for the investigation work.
However, they are not just addressed to shopkeepers. Since the quantities of coffee stolen have been so large, the police suspect that the coffee is stored somewhere. It is therefore requested that people who rent out premises are particularly attentive in the case of seeing larger amounts of food in connection with the premises.

Even those who do not rent out premises or are shop owners can contact the police. “If you see someone who loads unusually large amounts of coffee in their car outside a grocery store, we want you to call 112 and tell it,” they write on Facebook.
