Police warn of party drugs – after death

Two dead – one is treated in hospital • “The first time you try can also be the last”

The police are warning about the party drug crystal – after two deaths in a short time.
– The first time you try this can also be the last, says Oscar Thorén, preliminary investigation leader, to
The light.

In a short time, two people, a 15-year-old girl and a 30-year-old man, have died from the party drug 3-CMC, also known as crystal.

The girl was taken to hospital in a serious condition at the end of November and died a few days ago. The man in his 30s also died in hospital a week ago with the same symptoms as the girl, the police write on their website.

The girl and the man were both natives of Hälsingland, and their relatives have been informed.

Another person is being treated in hospital with the same symptoms.

The police warn

But considering the circumstances surrounding the deaths, the police suspect that the people died after using 3-CMC and are now warning that the deadly drug can circulate among young people in Hälsingland.

– The first time you try this can also be the last, says Oscar Thorén, preliminary investigation leader, to The light.

– We see especially among young people that they take this quite lightly. It’s something you play with, unfortunately. We want to urge vigilance. And as a parent, the most important thing is to be present, even if it’s not always easy, Thorén continues.

Causing the death of another

In connection with the events, the Police have also started a preliminary investigation into causing the death of another and drug offences.

– It is a very big problem. We are trying to work broadly in this, partly by tracking down these people who are selling to prevent more people from meeting such tragic fates. And partly we are investigating what caused these people to die, says Oscar Thorén to the newspaper.
