13-year-old Emirhan Altınbaş in Duisburg city of Düsseldorf province of Germany was subjected to harsh intervention by the police. Altınbaş, who was reported for tearing up the election poster, was taken to the police station by the police on Tuesday, April 12, after being pressed on his shoulder and put in reverse handcuffs. In the images reflected in the social media, it was recorded that Altınbaş cried during the intervention of the police, but the police did not care.

Emirhan Altınbaş’s father, Mustafa Ersen Altıntaş, said that they took Emirhan to the hospital after the incident and that his son had signs of beating on his head, neck and back. Father Altınbaş stated that it is illegal to take a 13-year-old boy to the police station by wearing a reverse handcuff, and stated that they will file a lawsuit against the police.

Explaining that his son told him that he couldn’t breathe and that his voice could not be heard when the police stood on him, Mustafa Ersen Altıntaş stated that Emirhan’s images reminded him of the black American George Floyd, who lost his life due to police violence.
