Man allegedly steals handicap parking signs

Chatham-Kent police responded Wednesday morning to a break and enter in progress at a Maynard Line home in Harwich Township.

The homeowners saw a man run from their home when they were returning. A description of the suspect and his vehicle was provided to police.

Various efforts, including pinging a cellphone allegedly stolen from the residence, helped the police find the suspect still in the vehicle on Foster Street.

The man reportedly tried to run from the police but was apprehended. Upon a search, he was allegedly found to possess property from the home.

Police also learned the man was bound by a release order and wanted on outstanding warrants by Windsor Police Service and the Essex OPP.

The 33-year-old Chatham-Kent man was taken to headquarters and charged with possessing stolen property, resisting arrest, failing to comply with the release order, and breaking and entering. He was held for bail.

Break-in ugly fillers

Police responded Wednesday afternoon to an alarm at a business on Queen’s Line in Chatham.

Police reportedly found a man inside the property and arrested him. He was also wanted on outstanding warrants. Upon arrest, he was found in possession of suspected fentanyl.

The 33-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter, possession of break and enter tools, and possession of a controlled substance. He was held for bail.
